Study Pathway

Student Practitioner

For those who wish to take classes, following completion of 1 x 5-day Jin Shin Jyutsu seminar you will be recognised as a ‘student practitioner’ and a certificate issued for 35 hours of class time. You may practice from a professional point of view but should advise clients of this status.

Certified Practitioner

Having completed 3 x 5-day Jin Shin Jyutsu seminars students are certified as ‘Jin Shin Jyutsu practitioner’. A second certificate is then by Jin Shin Jyutsu Inc. Scottsdale Arizona, USA recognising 105 hours of class time.

Authorised international instructors for the 5 Day Jin Shin Jyutsu Seminars are:
Muriel Carlton, Philomena Dooley, Wayne Hackett, Sara Harper, Waltraud Riegger-Krause, Jed Schwartz, Ian Harris, Mona Harris, Jennifer Holmes, Iole Lebensztajn, Carlos Gutterres, Sadaki Kato, Petra Elmendorff, Jill Marie Pasquinelli (Holden), Cynthia Broshi, Chus Arias, Margareth Serra, Nathalie Max, Susan Schwartz, Birgitta Meinhardt, Michael Wenninger and Anita Willoughby.

Self Help Workshops

It is highly recommended that all Jin Shin Jyutsu students attend at least one Self Help workshop. During this, the fundamental principles of Physio-Philosopy will be covered as well as how to apply the Art to yourself, family and friends. Please refer to the the Practitioner page to identify certified self help instructors in your region.
It is now mandatory for all students who wish to present (or currently presenting) Self Help Jin Shin Jyutsu workshops to have completed 3 x 5 day Basic seminar seminars and at least 1 x Living The Art class (LTA). The old IT IS class is an acceptable substitute for the LTA. Students who have been regularly presenting Self Help but have not attended an LTA or an IT IS class are now required to fulfill this requirement.

Special Topic Classes

During these classes you have the opportunity to study specific Jin Shin Jyutsu topics in a more detailed and profound way. Example of Special Topic Classes are Pulses, Body Reading, The Depths, The Methods of Correction, Astrology, Organ Flows, etc. The Special Topic Classes have a requirement of attendance of one 5 Day Jin Shin Jyutsu Seminar (unless otherwise stated that a minimum of three classes is required).

5-Day Basic Seminars

The 5-Day Basic Seminar is for those who would like to study and practice the Art of Jin Shin Jyutsu on themselves and others, being the testimony of this simple, profound Art of Living, made known to us by Mary Burmeister and Jiro Murai.

There are two parts in each seminar:

Part 1: The foundation introduces Text book 1 over three days and encompasses the dynamic qualities of the 26 Safety Energy Locks, the Trinity Flows, the concepts of the 'Depths' within the body, and the Physio-Philosophy of Jin Shin Jyutsu. Interspersed with lecture are ample periods of hands-on application.

Part 2: (prerequisite: Part 1) focuses on Text 2; the 12 organ flows, listening to pulses, the Special Body Flows and how these contribute to harmonizing body, mind and spirit.

Online Study Groups

The number of Jin Shin Jyutsu students in New Zealand has increased exponentially thanks to the many marvelous opportunities available to attend international seminars, special topic classes and workshops. It is also through regular, casual study that students get to explore the avenues of wisdom and retain the all important connection in this ever-expanding Jin Shin Jyutsu family.

If you love to study with others but have no network nearby, here’s a solution that might work for you!

Monthly online study groups began in 2017 with a small group of students from outlying areas coming together for philosophical discussion and to share understanding of the Art of Jin Shin Jyutsu. As interest and realization grows, more groups are being formed.
Study groups are fun, informal gatherings with participants curiously engaging in mutual exploration of the teachings of Jin Shin Jyutsu as gifted to us by Master Jiro Murai, Mary Burmeister, Kato Sensei and those lessons presented by international instructors who represent Jin Shin Jyutsu inc. Scottsdale, USA.

Whether you are new to this style of study or missing the opportunities you used to have to develop your own awareness, this is an easy way to reconnect.

Pay it forward…. if you’re a student/practitioner with a desire to see study groups grow in New Zealand please consider offering a couple of hours once a month to facilitate a new group, either online or at a physical address. No experience required other than attendance at one or more 5 day basic seminars.

Information regarding groups and facilitators will be kept on file at the NZ Office and with permission, listed on the JSJ NZ website
